We were invited to join Roundabout Tours today to visit a local farm. In, what I believe, is a stroke of genius, this local beef farm has opened it's doors to the public to come and see a little about the beef industry.
We were greeted off the bus by our wonderful hosts for the day, Matt and Sally and daughters Gracie and Liesl. (my apologies if this is spelt wrong) They welcomed us to their farm with such genuine hospitality.... and damper fresh from the hot coals!!!! A smear of butter and jam and our family was feeling right at home!
We were walked through some very interesting information about the beef industry in Australia as compared to the rest of the world and then we got to meet the beautiful beasts. The kids loved feeding the cows and then Bos Park Fancy and Bos Park Force were brought up and we were allowed a cuddle..... something we don't get to do at home!!! By this time some amazing smells were coming from the BBQ as Matt did a little cooking lesson and we all got to taste the results..... Mouth watering was the verdict!!!!
All in all a great day out... I would recommend to anyone but especially if you might have some visitors from the city. This is a great way to get up close, learn something and help an Aussie farming family along the way. Don't forget to grab yourself some of the awesome steak rub. PS..... steak for dinner at my house tonight as I test my new skills, thanks Matt!!
